Mr. Kenny Wintman

Amud HaTorah Award

Mr. Wintman has been a devoted friend and supporter of Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael since its earliest days.

A lifelong member of the Boston Orthodox community, Mr. Wintman grew up in Malden, MA, and was educated at Maimonides and Yeshiva University. 

Mr. Wintman has dedicated decades of service to the community, most notably as a long-time member and gabbai at Young Israel of Brookline. His thoughtful support has helped strengthen Torah institutions across Boston’s schools and shuls.

Deeply influenced by his family’s close relationship with Rabbi Dr. Joseph B. Soloveitchik ZT”L, Mr. Wintman lives a life guided by Torah, halacha, and meticulous observance. 

Through his steadfast support and enduring commitment to Torah education, Mr. Wintman has become a valued partner to Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael and a pillar of our community.

Community Builders Award

Originally from Teaneck, NJ, and Boston, respectively, Mr. and Mrs. Nayowitz each bring a strong foundation in Torah education and a deep sense of purpose to their roles in the community. Mrs. Nayowitz earned her nursing degree from NYU College of Nursing and serves as the school nurse at Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael, caring for students with professionalism, warmth, and dedication. They relocated to Boston for Mr. Nayowitz’s studies at Harvard Law School, and he has since contributed to the yeshiva as both a baseball coach and a teacher of U.S. Government.

During their time here, they have distinguished themselves through both their professional contributions and their genuine commitment to building community. Despite the demands of their careers and young family, they open their home to others and help create a warm, welcoming environment rooted in Torah values. Their generosity and involvement have made a lasting impact on those around them.

Mr. Avner Tsapira

Excellence in Education

Mr. Tsapira has been a dedicated faculty member since joining Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael in 2019. With a strong background in mathematics and education, he brings both expertise and enthusiasm to his classroom. Mr. Tsapira earned his bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Touro College and later received a master’s degree in mathematics education from Hunter College. Prior to relocating to Boston, he taught at both at High School and College levels.

At YOY, Mr. Tsapira is known not only for his clear and engaging instruction, but for the genuine care he shows each student. He is deeply committed to helping his talmidim develop confidence and strong problem-solving skills, while building meaningful connections that extend beyond the classroom.

A beloved member of the community, Mr. Tsapira is a regular presence at Beth Abraham, where he serves as a chazzan and connects with students and families alike. His warmth, encouragement, and enduring relationships with his students reflect the impact of a true educator.
