November Lookback

“There’s Nothing in My Way!”

The national V’haarev Na program has returned to Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael under the guidance of Rabbi Moshe Wallin. Founded by Rabbi Dovid Newman, the program builds confidence and mastery in learning Gemara through focused, consistent review.

To launch the program, Rabbi Newman hosted YOY participants in Monsey, NY, sharing a powerful message: nothing can stand in your way if you truly believe it. He brought this idea to life with a memorable challenge, asking students to chop a block of wood with their bare hands. What seemed impossible became achievable with just a mindset shift.

That message has already translated into real results. Just weeks into the program, several students have mastered complex dafim so thoroughly that they can recite them fluently, some even by heart.

Investing in American Enterprise

Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael’s Business and Investment Lecture Series launched with a fascinating and engaging conversation featuring Steve Trotta, founder of DelCam Capital. The discussion was thoughtfully moderated by Robert Frisch, Founding Partner of The Strategic Offsites Group and a longtime contributor to Harvard Business Review.

The audience in the yeshiva’s Beis Medrash was fully engaged, posing insightful and timely questions during the Q&A. In this recording, Mr. Trotta shares his remarkable journey from entrepreneur to investor, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how he acquires and grows family-owned businesses, as well as the principles that guide his success.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Trotta, Mr. Frisch, and Mr. Toubian for helping make this program such a dynamic and meaningful experience.

Seal of Creativity

Ninth graders in Mr. Brancato’s World History class recently took a hands-on journey into the ancient world through the Clay Seal Project, an assignment that brought history to life in a memorable and creative way.

Instead of simply reading about early civilizations, students were challenged to step into the role of Indus Valley tradespeople. Each student imagined running their own business and designed a clay seal that served as the “logo” of their enterprise. The process required creativity, critical thinking, and historical imagination, as students considered how symbols communicate identity, ownership, and values.

Upcoming Day of Giving Dec. 10-11

With a Beis Medrash that hums from early-morning Shacharis to late-night mishmar, classrooms alive with high-level learning, and a full schedule of clubs, sports, and Shabbos programming, Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael offers our talmidim a true home away from home, where they grow, connect, and thrive.

It is a place of warmth and structure, where learning is rigorous, expectations are high, and every talmid is seen and valued. A place that feels supportive enough to grow and demanding enough to stretch.

This warmth.
This growth.
This home Beis.

It all exists because of you.

Please be part of this important campaign. Every donation will be TRIPLED by generous donors, making your support go even further. Our page is live and accepting gifts now, helping us build momentum and excitement as the campaign launches. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
