Distinguished Guest Speaker for Yamim Noraim
During a recent visit to Boston, Rabbi Gershon Miller, Dean and Rosh Hamosad of Yeshiva Beth Yehuda in Detroit, addressed the talmidim of Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael. He shared a powerful message on teshuva—encouraging students to see it not as a pursuit of perfection or a measure of “good” versus “bad,” but as a continual journey of growth and improvement. Impressed by the Yeshiva, Rabbi Miller noted how fortunate the talmidim are to be part of such a remarkable makom Torah.
Building Achdus and Friendship
The past few months have been filled with incredible trips and experiences designed to strengthen achdus and friendship throughout the Yeshiva. The year began with a relaxed retreat to Cape Cod, where students enjoyed sports, fishing (one even caught a fish!), and a memorable night at a private indoor waterpark. The trip fostered camaraderie across grades and gave Rebbeim a chance to connect with students personally.
The momentum continued later in the z’man with a Pre-Selichos Shalosh Seudos at the Yeshiva, an Aseres Yemei Teshuva Melave Malka and kumzitz, and a lively alumni Simchas Beis HaShoeiva in Rabbi Gelernter’s sukkah. Each event focused on connectio

September and October saw a vibrant start for the YOY PTA. With Mrs. Debra Milgram’s “graduation” from her devoted role, Mrs. Yael Davydov and Mrs. Tamar Klompas have stepped in as new PTA presidents. The month included a warm back-to-school brunch, an inspiring Rosh Hashana shiur for women by Mrs. Michal Blumberg, and a successful Sukkos bake sale, setting an energetic tone for the year ahead.
